Kitchen Creek Canyoneer 3-19-17

Sunday….still too early to hit the main creeks…so we looked for the seasonal drainage. Found one that that’s still not quite ripe, but almost doable. Had to skirt a couple of long drops, but fun day overall…
Today’s team…Karl, Luca, Tiffanie, and Jake…

Dropping into the upper drainage…

Water is deeper in some spots, with a pretty stong flow…

Careful approach….

Fun swift narrow slide…

Flow is getting stronger as we approach the real descents…

Best to use a rope here as the flow gets stronger and the drops get longer…

Approaching the first long drop…

Luca controlling the anchor while Tiffanie drops the first 90′ drop…

Trying to stay out of the direct flow…

Jake nearing the bottom of the drop…

Then Luca…

On this drop we used a tree to redirect us out of the flow…The flow would have been damaging…

A beautiful set of falls for a seasonal drainage…

The last set of falls, 195′ of too much water. We ended up scrambling around this one…

Numbskulls…literally, the water was skull-numbing cold…

Last Look before…

…the last rap back to the vehicle…

Tiffanie in the poison oak wash station…
