Black Crater
Plan B, let’s do Black Crater! We got the last parking spot at the trailhead. By the time we started this hike it was just after 12:00pm. The temp was cool with clear sunny skies. As we were ascending, most others were heading down. That gave us the summit mostly to ourselves. Our descent was a cross-country route down along the west side of Black Crater’s rim, and down into the Latta Crater floor. Then up and over to the trail back to the truck.
Nice day to be outside with Deb.
Plan A, Point 6762, the sub peak left of Mount Washington…
From the summit of Black Crater, a view of Mount Washington.
Looking at Belknap Crater with the surrounding lava flow, Mount Washington, and Three Fingered Jack to the right…
Mount Washington and Point 6762 (plan A)
From left to right, Broken Top, South Sister, and North Sister. If you know where to look, you can also see the top of Mount Bachelor just right of Broken Top, and the tip of Middle Sister just right of North Sister
Hazy shot of Three Fingered Jack…
Even hazier shot of Mount Jefferson…
On the west rim of Black Crater looking back up at the summit…
That bunch of larch? trees is quite a contrast to the rest. All neat photos.
Thanks Don! Those are Aspen trees…
