Well, didn’t get any takers on this climb so I went solo. My intentions were to get to the summit of Broken Top via the South Ridge Route. Even before going I was a little mystified on how I was going to get around Point-9094…but I was told there will be an easy snow ridge after the point that leads to the traverse over to the standard NW ridge….Well, that snow ridge wasn’t there this late in the season, so I only got as far as Point-9094…which is only 81′ lower than the true summit. The hike in to camp was pretty straight forward, but slow going due to the snow conditions…wet & heavy. Camp was perfect! Sunday morning I started at 5:30am…just before sunrise, and got to Point-9094 at 8:15am. With no place to go beyond except for straight down, I decided to head back to camp… I packed up camp and was on my way back to the truck at 11:30am…The hike back was brutal. Full on sun, sticky wet heavy snow made for a long trudge back… The awesome views were well worth it though…
