Set out for a four-summit day and got two…and that’s ok. Late start and a bit slower on snowshoes. Got a little cross-country in due to the snow and being able to cut off some of the BIG switchbacks. Snowshoes on and off throughout the day…mostly on though. It was another fun day out with my lovely adventurous partner Deb…
The views were outstanding, being able to see most of the Oregon volcanos, and Mount St Helens. This is a really fun area with lots of scrambling opportunities. We’ll be back when the days are longer.
Coming out of the forest, looking over at Iron Mountain, as we are ascending Cone Peak…
Just high enough to see Three Sisters, Mount Washington, and South Peak…
Echo Mountain, South Peak, and Mount Washington in the distance…
Another look at Iron Mountain and its very cool pinnacle…

Cool formations on the way up Iron Mountain…
While I really enjoyed the old lookout that used to be here, I am impressed with the viewing platform they installed in its place…

From Iron Mtn, looking over at Cone Pk, North Pk, Point 5762, Echo Mtn, and South Pk (left to right)
Pretty much what it looked like thru sunglasses, as the sun drops into the clouds…guess it’s time to head down…
This pic sums up the day…fun times! Good to be back outside…
Todays track, not including the 1.5 mile oops at the start 🙂
