Dead Mountain…
This hike is in our backyard, although the trailhead is down in the town of Oakridge, just 8 miles away. The trail has become a popular mountain bike trail, where many bikers hire a shuttle to take them to the top, for a fun ride down. Today we started early to limit the number of mountain bikers encountered on the trail.
At the top of Dead Mountain, there is a short knife-edge ridge called Devil’s Backbone. A fun little scramble with awesome views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, and the town of Oakridge.
