Eight Lakes Basin…
Spent a couple days and a night in the Eight Lakes Basin, in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness, last weekend. Hiked in to Jorn Lake, starting at the Pine Ridge Trailhead, up to Marion Mountain, then headed south cross country along the ridge to Marion Peak where we descended towards Blue Lake to meet the trail to Jorn Lake, where we met up with Cheryl and Greg who had got a really nice camp spot near the shore of Jorn Lake. Nice hike into camp collecting lots of wildlife sightings….
The next morning (late morning) we set off towards the Duffy Lake Trailhead. Deb and I decided to start out with a little cross county straight up the cinder cone called Red Butte and straight down the other side to Mowich Lake where we caught up with Cheryl and Greg on the shore of Mowich Lake. After a long relaxing break, we headed off back to the Duffy Lake trailhead…passing through some very lovely old forest.
Enjoyable short backpack with a little cross country exploring with Deb, Cheryl, and Greg.
First stop, a side trip to view Temple Lake.
