Gold Lake Trail Snowshoe…
Parked at the Waldo Lake Sno-Park, just off Hwy 58. Waldo Road is closed this time of year to let the snow mobile’s play for the winter. We walked the road for 2 miles before dropping down to the Gold Lake trail. Made it as far as the far north end of the Gold Lake Bog, where we turned around. Before heading back, we decided to test out our survival fire building skills…Well, it wasn’t a total fail, and we did get a fire going, well enough to warm our hands. Feet were cold though…. After putting the fire out, dead, we headed back to the truck. Unfortunately, after a mile or so, we had another snowshoe blowout, this time it was on Deb’s foot. We patched it as good as we could, and she limped along for another mile before the whole binding fell off the shoe. Luckily, we were back on the road by then, and she was able to walk with one snowshoe and one boot, without too much trouble.
Besides the snowshoe failure, it was a nice day outside.
Falling snow is better than falling rain…
A couple of miles on the road, in snow mobile tracks…
Quite the adventure. I used to carry a spare set of snowshoes (MSR’s) believe it or not. Great pictures as usual.
