I’d been wondering about this drainage for a while. Lidar showed a few drops. It’s just behind our cabin in Detroit, so what the hell… Ended up being about 7-8 rappels, over several small falls, and a couple of long low angle bedrock slides. I think the tallest fall (Hemlock Falls) was about 50’-60’. Not much water but with the recent rains there was enough to get our feet wet. We really weren’t expecting much so we didn’t bring wetsuit or canyon shoes…good thing we brought a rope and harnesses.
This creek is not named, so we named it Hemlock Creek, after one of our recent dear departed pet Rat.
Fun thrash with my lovely wife, Deb.
Stahlman Point trail, through the old growth section…
Rap 1, a 10′ rap over a slippery boulder…
I love seeing this type of view…
Heading down rap 3…75′ low angle slick bedrock…
looking up rap 4…40′ continuation of the low angle slick bedrock…
I can see where these trees are headed…
Rap 6…slick low angle 40′ rap…
Interesting…must have been a road here, or up-stream…
Also interesting…A concrete dam with a pipe connection near the bottom. Water diversion system…
