Hogg Rock Snowshoe…
Our weekend plans were stifled by lower elevation rain, so we decide to head to the pass. I’ve always wanted to explore Hogg Rock, although never was too excited to explore it in the Winter, but since we dilly-dally’d the morning away…what the hell. A short snowshoe up and over Hogg Rock. Very interesting on top, where the small ponds were frozen. Had some nice views as the weather system was drifting in and out, giving us snow and sunshine…sometimes at the same time.
Will be back in the summertime…
Hard to leave the warmth of the cabin…but we did 🙂
Three Fingered Jack (3FJ) coming into view…
The sun filtered by the clouds…
Mount Washington in the weather…
Looking down at our tracks, 3FJ in the distance…
Walking out over one of the frozen ponds on Hogg Rock…
Chair Lift towers on Hoodoo Butte…
Nearing the east rim of Hogg Rock…
Making our way back to the truck…
…stopping to have a look at the historic Santiam Pass Ski Lodge. Restoration in progress…
