Third year for our annual trip to Hyalite Canyon (Bozeman, MT.) The ice was fantastic. We hooked up with Bud Martin, a local climber from Bozeman, to show us the fat ice.
We left Portland Thursday after work, lodged in Kennewick then drove the rest of the way to Bozeman on Friday.
Climbed ice all day Saturday and Sunday, then drove from Bozeman back to Portland on Monday. Always a fun mini adventure.
Saturday we (Myself, Deb and Bud Martin) climbed all day on The Dribbles, a 450’ 4-pitch WI3-4 fun climb. I led pitch 2 and 4.
Sunday we climbed the right side and the left side of Mummy II. I led the right side, a 140’ single pitch of WI3+. After Mummy II we set up a TR on The Scepter…a 100’ single pitch of WI4-5. Then on our walk out we stopped and climbed two routes on Fat Chance…a 90’ single pitch WI3 and a 80’ single pitch mixed route.
