With the perfect weather, and surface conditions, we took the opportunity to climb the Leuthold Couloir route on Mount Hood, last Saturday. We moved faster than expected, so most of the ascent was in the dark, including the crevasse field crossing the Reid Glacier. Hardly any ice fall through the Hour-Glass section, although did get whacked in the helmet with a large marble size ice chunk that reminded me to not look up as we were climbing through the Hour-Glass section. The ascent took us 6-hours to the summit, and the descent (Old Chute) took us 2-hrs 40-min back to the truck. We did stop at the Hogsback to help a climber that got hit hard in the elbow by a baseball sized ice chunk. Fun route!
