Mount June via Hardesty Mountain…
This looked like a nice ridge hike on the map, and today it turned out to be a really nice hike in a new area for me. I started from the Upper Hardesty Trailhead. From there I hike to the summit of Hardesty, then jumped on the Lost Creek Trail and hiked the ridge to Sawtooth Rock, then on to Mount June. This trail is like a roller coaster, beautiful forest, but the ups and downs!
The open meadows near Sawtooth were all about yellow and pink today. Sawtooth Rock is an interesting looking rock, the east side looks like a creepy creature, while the west side provides for an easy scramble to the top. Once you get to the trail junction at the base of Mt June, there’s a 500’ gain huff to the summit.
The weather today was quite pleasant. The trailhead was cool but dry. Most of the hike was through on and off fog, with the summit of Mt June in full warm sun. The hike through the forest was mostly cool and damp from the lingering fog. The forest right now is very lush, and green.
Good day to be outside…
Leaving the upper Hardesty trailhead…
Good day for this kind of view…
The forest is so lush this time of year, so much green.
Looks like a “creepy creature”
Lots of yellow and pink flowers out today…

Remnants of the communication lines to the Mount June lookout…
Must be nice to still be in that good a shape to do the hikes you do. I’m envious. Great pictures Karl.
Thanks Don, It’s certainly not as easy as it used to be.
