Last time at the summit of this peak was Oct 2007, good to be back. Living in Oakridge, we are a little closer to the trailhead, although still a 2.5 hour drive each way. Good day for a volcanic slog. Mild temp and clear skies…
We left the trailhead at about 9am and hit the summit at about 12:45pm. After about an hour at the summit, we started our descent, getting back to the trailhead at about 4:45pm. Now for the long drive home.
The remains of the lookout have changed a bit in the last 17 years…no longer is there a partial wall standing like back in 2007. While sitting at the summit we were greeted by thousands of flying insects. These insects did not bite, just a bit pesky.
