After a good night’s sleep at the Broken Arrow campground, we drove to the Mount Thielsen trailhead. The sun was already up…and so were the mosquitoes. We had to keep a quick pace just so we didn’t get hammered by the bugs. Once we hit the ridge (PCT crossing), there was enough of a breeze the bugs were no bother. The shallow scree section was just as stupid as ever but we made it to the summit block just fine. We decided to use a rope this time, sinking one piece of pro (#2 cam) half way up. We found a new bomber anchor at the top. It was nice to rap down as opposed to down climb, but I can see the attraction of not carrying any gear
Once we got back down to the ridge (PCT crossing), we took out last break before picking up the downhill pace…basically running from the mosquitoes. We also cut off a couple of the long switchbacks.
Fun times with my lovely wife, Deb…
Still some trail work to be done…

Great views and no bugs above tree-line…
Looking up at the 80′ summit block…
…looking down at the approach ridge. You can see the PCT dropping off the ridge…
This guy will pose for nuts…just don’t give him any.
Last look at Mount Thielsen before dropping back into the forest…
