Onion Peak 11-21-20

Onion Peak…

Always a good Fall / Winter hike in the Oregon coast range. With 13-miles of timber company road and a mile of thrashy, rarely use route to the summit of Onion peak, this is definitely a pay-to-play day outside. Yesterday’s sunny weather made the long approach worth the 360-degree views from the top. Not only did we have views of Mount Adams, St Helens, Rainier, and Goat Rocks…we could even see the snow-covered Olympic Mountains.
Another lovely day with Deb…

After a couple of miles in, a nice view of the pacific ocean, the community of Arch Cape, and Castle Rock…

Castle Rock…

Sugarloaf Mountain, with a very cool rocky top.

A view south over Nehalem Bay…

Someday I’ll figure a way to explore those rocks below…Edit, found them here 🙂

Clear view of Mount Adams, St Helens, and the Goat Rocks…

…and mount Rainier.

Below is Haystack Rock, and way out is Tillamook Head Light (Terrible Tilly)…

A very zoomed in shot of The Olympic Mountain Range…

Nehalem Bay…

Looking west at Angora Pinnacle, The Reveng Pinnacle, Angora Peak, and Little Angora (the technical one)

Thrashy descent…

From the road back to the car, close to sunset…
