Always wanted to scramble out to Park Butte…I’ve seen it from many other places, just never been on it. We parked at the Breitenbush Lake trailhead, took the PCT to Park Ridge, then just scrambled the ridge out to Park Butte. After a long rest on the Butte, we dropped down to Little Sprague Lake where we cooled off with a swim, then hiked past Sprague Lake…then scrambled back up to the PCT and headed back to the trailhead. No BIG views because of the smoke, but the views close in were nice. Fun to see so many of the other peaks I’ve been to for a new angle.
Nice colors in the burned area…
From Park Ridge, looking down into Jefferson Park, and the two Sprague Lakes…Oh, and Mount Jefferson in the distance.
From Park Ridge, looking NW at Adventure Ridge leading out to Bear Point. That’s Dinah-Mo Peak on the right side of the ridge…
Looking at Park Butte and Mount Jefferson beyond…
Nice ramp leading up to Park Butte…
…and the ramp leading down off Park Butte…
At Little Sprague Lake for a quick swim…
…then on to Sprague Lake with a nice smokey view of Mount Jefferson…
On the trail back to the trailhead, Pyramid Butte, and Ollalie Butte in the distance…
