Pyramid – Ball Peaks Loop…
This route was suggested by good friend, Brian Jenkins. So, what the hell, it was a nice way to spend the day, before heading for home.
We took the trail to Pyramid Pass, then went cross-country straight up towards the summit. After tagging Pyramid Peak (7355), we headed south to the saddle, then up to Point 7070. Took a break then headed south to the saddle, then up to Point 7025. We then headed SW down to the saddle and up to the summit ridge of Ball Peak (point 7265). After a long break, we headed down the ridge to the Ball Lakes. From there we caught the trail back to the trailhead.
This was a fun route with lots of ups and downs, easy scrambles, and awesome views.
Now we head home to Oregon. Fun first trip to the Selkirk Mountains. Looking forward to coming back with my favorite adventure partner and wife, Deb.
Nice trail for a while, up to Pyramid Pass…

Steep boulder field up to Pyramid Peak…

From Pyramid Peak looking at all the up’s and down’s over to Ball Peak.

Much more adventuring in the distance…

Great views and pictures Karl. I’ve been watching Outdoor Idaho on OPB and this gives me more incentive to get out that way. Of course not the adventure like you do but a mini adventure.
Definitely go to the Selkirk Mountains. There are a lot of trailheads that you can drive to, that get you pretty close to very nice places.
