Skookum Canyon Canyoneer…
Fun rappels in a beautiful area. It was nice to get back to the east side. Sunny, dry, Pines and Oaks…
Nice wide-open approach led us to a short descent down to the first rap. At first, I was a little apprehensive about the water flow through the pinch, as it definitely looked worse that it was…we all lived 😊. Rap 2 was a straight forward rap in and out of the flow. Rap 3 looked like a monster but turned out to be a fun drop in a cold shower. Glad I put my jacket hood on.
We chose an exit that had a .25 mile shrub thrash before turning into a pleasant walk through the Oak forest back to our vehicles.
Todays team, Karl, Kevin, Wade, and Ashley…
Fun shit!
First look up the Skookum Canyon…
Descend into the creek where the power lines cross over the canyon…
This rock at the edge of the cliff, made a great anchor…
I seriously thought about skipping this drop because of the flow, but after watching others go, found it looked worse than it really was…
Wade stepping over to the right side…
…then stepping back to the left side…the key is the stay on the DCL when dropping the falls.
Ashley stepping over to the right…
Approaching rap 2… We chose to rap from some nicely places bolts DCR…
Straight forward rap in and out of the flow…
Such a beautiful rap ends up in this mess…Ugh!
Long walk down canyon to rap 3…
Looking down on rap 3. What appeared to be a Monster…
…ended up to be a fun cold shower…Wade in the flow.
