Squaw Rock…
Always a fun short adventure climb. Haven’t been for a few years, so Saturday took our “new to us” camper van to the Crooked River National Grasslands area, behind Smith Rock State Park. We found a nice level spot amongst the cow pies to park. After setting up camp, which amounted to parking the van, we set off to climb Squaw Rock. Always an easy climb with the crux just getting off the ground. Lots of fun exposure with this two-pitch spiral pinnacle climb.
A short hike back to the van with views of tomorrows hike up to Gray Butte.
Passing Mendenhall Ridge group of rocks…The Poplar, and The Sapling to name a couple…
A view from the top of Squaw Rock, looking down at Smith Rock State Park…
Looking over at the ridge we’ll take to Gray Butte tomorrow…
Looking at Gray Butte on the horizon…

This is the gear I used to get to the top…
