Squaw Rock Loop…
A good weekend to travel to the east side of the mountains. With a small chance of rain and highs in the upper 60’s, we decided to climb Squaw Rock and continue down the ridge to the irrigation canal, walking the road back to the truck. A short cross-country loop that included a short fun adventure climb of the Squaw Rock pinnacle. Along the way we tagged the summit of a small Pinnacle we call Nichols Rock…a short scramble up really shitty rock.
Fun way to spend a Saturday…with my lovely wife, Deb.
A nice morning view of Mount Bachelor, Broken Top and the Three Sisters…
Nichols Springs…and a memorial…
From the top of Nichols Rock, a view of our path up and over to Squaw Rock…
I first saw this sign 8-years ago…
…our climbing objective today.
Looking over at the rocks on Mendenhall Ridge…
From the summit, a wide view over Sherwood Canyon and Smith Rock State Park
Deb starting her rappel from the top…
Ah Oh…Looks worse than it was…
As we were scrambling along the rock we came around the corner as one, then another, Turkey Vulture flu from this cave. We startled them, then they startled us. The cave opening is about 4′ wide x 6′ tall.
A wide view of the rocks on Indian Ridge and Mendenhall Ridge…
