Straight Creek Canyoneer 8-7-21

Straight Creek…

Kevin has had his eye on this short section of Straight Creek for a while now. Deb and I joined him on this fun explore. The forecast had a slight chance of drizzle in the morning, turning to partly sunny in the afternoon…DOH, pretty much drizzle all day long…the heaviest being about the same time we were changing from wetsuit to cotton street clothes. The forest really does need the rain, so no big deal.

We knew about the landslide before Saturday, but hopeful it had been cleared up…no such luck. Oh well, a 2.6 mile hike up a paved road, lined with plump blueberries wasn’t so bad. We dropped off the end of the upper spur road for a pretty nice open forest descent to the creek. Beautiful area with some big trees.

I think we got 10-11 short rappels in about .8 of a mile. Several caves, one being a very big one…very cool!

Thanks for sharing this one Kevin!
