SW Canyoneering 2019…
I and my lovely wife, Deb, Keith, Wim, and Sean had a great 7-day, 7-canyon adventure last week. It was good to get back down into SW Utah after a couple of busy years up in the PNW canyons. We took two shuttle-capable vehicles, loaded with camping and canyoneering gear.
Canyons dropped, in this order… Eagle/Forgotten, Double Arch, Baptist Draw (my favorite), Goblins Lair, Cassidy Arch, Cottonwood, and Arch Nemesis.
It’s been a dry season this year so we never had to put the wetsuit on. We encountered water from time to time, but either skirted around, jumped over, or just waded through it.
Good times with good friends…
Deb and I had an extra day so we elected to explore behind the wheel and do a 6-hour loop called the Cathedral Valley-Hartnet Draw Loop…Wow! Amazing beauty!
We took the long way home and drove over Boulder Mountain, through the Aspen forests. Then through Escalante, and a couple hours in Bryce Canyon National Park as tourists.
Since there are a lot of pics (not even a fraction of what we took), I am going to post as separate canyon posts.
Canyon 1 Eagle/Forgotten Canyons
Canyon 2 Double Arch Canyon
Canyon 3 Baptist Draw Canyon (personal favorite)
Canyon 4 Goblin’s Lair Canyon
Canyon 5 Cassidy Arch Canyon
Canyon 6 Cottonwood Wash (very cool because we were camping at the bottom)
Canyon 7 Arch Nemesis Canyon
Drive through Cathedral Valley and Hartnet Draw (Incredible Scenery with no people)
Drive home the long way over Bounder Mountain through the Aspen, and through Bryce Canyon NP (too many people)
