It’s been a few years since I’ve climbed 3FJ….wasn’t even thinking about it, when Deb said what about 3FJ? Took me about 3 seconds to answer, OK!
Perfect conditions…dry and sunny. Left the trailhead at 5:15am (heard a Mazamas team was going to be there), at the summit at about 10:30, and back at the truck at 2:45. Two large climbing groups and a party of 3…all behind us. Lots of smoke hampered the views, but still fun shit!
Looking back at Mount Washington and the Three Sisters…
Hmmm…looks like it’s going to be a bit breezy up there…
Morning sun landing on the peaks…from right to left…Sand Mountain, Hoodoo Butte, Hayrick Butte, Mount Washington, Three Sisters, and Broken Top…
…and you can also see the top of Mount Bachelor between Three Sisters and Broken Top, and The Husband just right of Mount Washington.
Deb climbing along “The Wall”, one of my favorite parts…
Looking out over the smoke, looking at Mount Washington, Three Sisters, and Broken Top…
Deb climbing the mountain, 2000′ above the forest…
Karl leading the “Great Wall of Chicken Heads”…near the top…
Karl at the summit of 3FJ…not enough room for both 🙂
Looking down at Karl fixing the rappel rope, and others further down…Nice pic Deb!!
Poser’s near the summit with Mount Jefferson in the far distance…
Canyon Creek Meadows over 2000′ below…
Zoom in…look at all those climbers. That’s why Deb and I left the trailhead at 5:00 am…I’m glad we were on our way down.
At the top of the scree-ski…looking over at Duffy Butte.
Last look at Three Fingered Jack (3FJ)
