Back in April of 2016 I explored the upper narrows of Arch Cape Creek, and last Saturday I explored the lower narrows. I call them “narrows” because if you look at the map, you can see topo lines signify narrow spots in the drainage. Well, not so much in the way of significant waterfalls, but the creek itself is beautiful. Lots of water in the creek, and very green. Unfortunately with all the logging throughout the years, the off-trail experience was less than stellar. But just being down in that semi remote drainage…all alone, makes it all worth it.
Pretty much the standard view when starting a hike in the northern coastal range…except for the blue sky of course 🙂
To get a little elevation I scrambled to the summit of a 1000′ hill, just before dropping into the drainage… I wish off-trail in the coast range was always this clean.
I headed straight down from here…looks easier than it was…
First view down stream as I stepped out in the creek…
Reflection of the blue-sky day…
Interesting bank…sand. I was also pleasantly surprised there were no initials carved it it.
Little Angora Pinnacle…the technical one.
Hello, I have had Arch Cape creek on my radar for quite some time but left it alone due to access issues. I just stumbled across your site and saw on your map you parked at the gate for Arch Cape Service District road, and I was curious if you had to get permission before hand to walk past the gate due to the private property and no trespassing signs.
-Thank you, Justin R.
Just act like you know what you’re doing…and whatever you do..don’t ask!
