We’ve seen this rock from other nearby peaks and added it to the list. This past weekend we decided to go and explore the rock. A few days prior I did a recon to find out the best way to approach it. We decided to do this as a shuttle, parking one car at the bottom and another car at the top. We could not find any info online mentioning any prior visits to Lighthouse Rock. It does appear on the USGS map, so maybe locals visit it from time to time.
Our route was all cross-country, using a sharp ridge system that dropped 3,000’ in elevation in 2.9 miles. This area was severely burned in both 2009 and 2025, so it took a while to pick our way down the loose rocks and ground.
I’m surprised this rock has no published climbs. It looks like a fun adventure climb. The summit is a split summit with two summits that look near equal in heights. We were able to scramble up the base between both summits. There are grassy ledges on the way up that would provide good belay spots, but would need to be protected. The summit pinnacles are both about 45’-55’ tall +/-.
After a long break between the two pinnacles, we continued down the ridge to the bottom shuttle.
This area has a lot of exposed rock. There are a few more interesting things to explore. We will definitely be back.
