Cathedral Rocks via Bingham Ridge 8-25-19

Cathedral Rocks… This is the third time I’ve been up in this area, but the first time using the Bingham Ridge approach. Probably the easiest approach to the area. Deb and I tagged the first Cathedral Rock before heading back. We took the trail there, but did a lot of cross country on the way back. We came across a small deep lake we are calling Rock Lake, a deep lake in a rock bowl with a rocky shore great for swimming…so we did.
A nice day out in a beautiful area, with my beautiful wife.

It was a good year for bear grass blooms…

Three Fingered Jack through the burn…

Also, a good year for huckleberries…

First look at Mount Jefferson…

Zoomed in shot of Jefferson…

Goat Peak, on the south ridge of Jefferson…

What’s this? A pinnacle…

…and it looks climbable!

Nearing Cathedral Rocks…

Mount Jefferson, Goat Peak, and Cathedral Rocks…

From on top of the first Cathedral Rocks…

From the summit looking at The Table and off in the distance, Bear Butte…

From the summit looking down into the Hunts / Hanks Lake Basin, the head of Lizard Ridge, and Grizzly Peak way off to the right…

An unnamed lake we call Rock Lake because it is a deep lake with solid rock most of the way around. It made a great swimming lake…

Rock Lake…

The days track…
