Dome Rock 11-27-20

Dome Rock…
Another trip into the fire ravaged forest. Snow, blue sky, and blackened trees…quite the contrast. We hit snow at about 2000’, and put our snowshoes on at about 3200’, near the springs. Once we got to the base of Dome we just headed straight up to the summit.
Beautiful views from the top. So clear…could see all the Oregon volcanos, and many other highpoints.
Another great day outside.

Trailhead…

Couple of miles in…very interesting walking through the burn…brown, black, and blue are the colors of the day.

Snow starts at about 2500’…guess we’ll add white to the list of today’s colors

Tracks from a bear crossed the trail and down the slope…

Margie Dunham Springs, snow deep enough for snowshoes…

Dome Rock in the distance, through the trees…

Needle Rock through the trees…still on my list

Across the Tumble Creek Canyon, Elephant Rock, Tumble Rock, Cooling Tower Rock, and The Ledge…all fun scrambles

Summit of Dome Rock…If you zoom in and know where to look, one can see Table Rock, and Pika Rock.

Six volcanos… Mount Jefferson, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Washington and the Three Sisters…

…Sardine Mountain and Rocky Top…

Time to head back…

Bad zoomed in phone pic…last one of the day.

Today’s route…
