Smith Creek (aka Move along, nothing to see here Creek) Canyoneer 12-1-18

Smith Creek (AKA…move along, nothing to see here creek). I think Kevin and I dropped Smith Creek so nobody else had too 

Drawn to Smith creek by the way it looked on Google Earth, very deep and narrow. We didn’t expect many falls…if any. We were more interested in how deep and narrow this drainage is.

The approach was an easy 2-mile hike on an old forest road… The initial drop was steep and messy. Navigating over and under lots of debris. This drainage needs a good cleaning…a major event.

I think there ended up being 4-raps, 3 of which were over falls. The drainage only measures .8 of a mile but drops 1300’. 3.5 hours shuttle to shuttle…

Interesting drainage…

Typical start to most PNW canyons at the top…

Chocolate?

Down canyon…

Hmmm…looks like an edge…

Yep…

We’ll call this one Move Along Falls

Another one…This one’s called Nothing to See Here Falls

Confluence…and more water 🙂

Down canyon and getting quite narrow…

This is where all the boulders and logs go to get stuck…

Smith Creek Falls…? Weak, I know…

Smith Creek near the bottom shuttle…

The route…
