Sugarloaf Mountain Summit…Finally 1-26-14

P1000147Third times a charm…Brian and I have been up Sugarloaf two times before, but never all the way to the summit. The summit is a large mass / group of bulbously shaped rock formations that has very little protection possibilities. This time, unlike the other two times, it was dry…and we had rock shoes, but more important…we had Mark. Mark was able to lead the second pitch, that got us all to the summit. At the summit is the remnants of what is believed to be an aircraft warning tower put up in 1921…later to be used as a fire lookout platform…and abandoned in the 30’s. The structure now serves as a great rap anchor. Another fun day with a fun group. Great adventure….
