Twin Peaks – Wallowa Mountains 9-5-23

Twin Peaks – Wallowa Mountains – Eagle Cap Wilderness

Still just getting to know the Wallowas. Twin Peaks is a nice objective, giving us great views of the Wallowas and all the peaks, valleys, and ridges…plus the quick scramble to the top of the North Peak.

Great day hike with Deb and Brian Jenkins.

First look at Twin Peaks from the trail…

Along the way, passing the Legore Mine site. More like a prospect hole about 15′ deep…

Up the boulder gully…

Looking down the boulder gully… That’s Chief Joseph Mountain in the distance.

A far away shot of the meadow we will be camping in, in two days… We’ll call it Thorp Meadows.

Looking down at the town of Enterprise…

First Mountain Goat of the day…

Sawtooth Peak in the distance…

First view of Legore Lake at 8957′. Supposedly the highest lake in Oregon, with fish.

On the ridge to Twin Peaks, with North Peak in front of us…

Brian starting up the scramble…

Brian near the top…

Hurricane Divide, Marble Point, and Frances Lake Below…

Avalanche Slopes…

The day’s track…

Ah. The one photo must be of the mine. Thought it was a shelter of some kind at first. And another photo reminds me of the Steens Mountain area. All neat photos Karl.
