Twin Pillars 2-13-22

Twin Pillars…

It’s been 15 years since I last came up to the Twin Pillars. We camped at the trailhead parking lot. Nobody else there other than a small car. Turned out to be a couple of backpackers that we met on the trail the next day. Nice cold hike along the East Fork Mill Creek until we got out of the drainage and into the sun. I was able to find the one climbing bolt that I remember seeing 15 years ago. It’s about 30’-40’ up the south face of the west pillar. Not sure if anyone has made it to the top…
Nice hike with my lovely wife Deb.

Sunday morning, 23 degrees…Our new tent 🙂

For the first couple of miles the trail was solid ice… Micro-spikes worked well.

First glimpse of the pillars…

One of many creek crossings…again micro-spikes worked well.

Finally out of the cold drainage and into the sun…

Nice view of the Twin Pillars…

Looking back towards the East Mill creek drainage…

At the base of the west pillar…

See the hanger?…15 years ago it had a piece of webbing attached…

Zoon in to see the hanger…

Time to go…

Last look…
