Jackass Creek Canyoneer 1-17-21

Jackass Creek…
First cousin to Donkey Creek (few small drainages NE of Jackass). Was surprised at the amount of water this drainage had considering its small watershed. Just like most in this area, Jackass was a thrashy drop. We probably got 6-7 raps over a couple nice falls.
Just another fun thrashy drainage in the Oregon Coastal Range.

Today’s route…

Hi Karl. Heading out to Sugarloaf on Monday (2-22-21). While the goal is to once again head up Sugarloaf via bush whack and staying pretty much to the left of mail Creek, I have been eyeing the boot path down from the summit to the North with thoughts of a major traverse towards South Sugarloaf and Onion peak, Angora….any thoughts and always welcome to join

To get to South Sugarloaf from Sugarloaf, I’d drop south a trend SSE and punch out on the logging road then a straight forward road hike to S. Sugarloaf. Then a road hike north back to your vehicle. This time of year that would be a long day but doable. The good thing is, it stays on L&C property most of the way. Don’t get caught on Weyerhaeuser property without a permit.
