Mystery Trail 11-2-14

Sunday, didn’t let the rainy forecast get in the way of doing The Mystery Trail again. Deb and I got off to a late start at 9:30am… We made good time getting up to the drop-off point (start of the mystery trail) at 12:15pm. Had a hard time remembering where, and finding the first rap…but finally did. Not sure why, since it was right in front of my face…just didn’t see it. Must have scrambled right by the second rap, because before we knew it we were at the catwalk….and hadn’t even needed the second rap. Found, and used a piece of webbing to rap off the catwalk since the rocks were so wet and slippery. Anyone using that webbing should inspect it, because the rope was pulled through it with no rap ring. Continued on to the last rap, then on to see Little Saint Pete, the pinnacle. The rock was too wet so didn’t climb. We also scrambled over to see St Peters Dome, but the rock was so wet, we didn’t even do the short scramble climb to the ledge. Worst part of the day was descending the long, steep boulder field, but was still better than the best day at work. Got back to the truck at 4:30pm…saturated of course.
Another fun day with Deb…
